Overview

The Major Psychology minor Psychological Counseling program of the An-Najah National University ‎theoretically and practically  aims to improve and develop skills of ‎students in various fields of intervention, such as: school ‎counseling, family counseling, counseling for special groups, and ‎vocational counseling. 

The program also aims to improve the ‎efficiency of the students in the field of diagnosis, constructing ‎counseling programs and using counseling techniques and methods ‎in intervention. Psychology and counseling department related with ‎many institutions working in the field of mental health and ‎psychological counseling which help students apply the technicians ‎and methods with realistic situations in the field. The outputs of the ‎program are: Excellent students in the field of diagnosis and ‎evaluation, using psychological tests, and constructing appropriate ‎counseling programs for different counseling categories.‎

Psychology and counseling program at An-najah Natioanl ‎Univesity related directly with many institutions dealing with ‎psychosocial issues such as: counseling and mental health centers, ‎rehabilitation centers and capacity building centers. Students at ‎psychology and counseling department do voluntary work at all of ‎that institutions and they apply what they have learned at the ‎department with real cases in the field , therefore psychology and ‎counseling program An- Najah Univeristy related strongly with ‎community institutions, specially clinical, counseling and mental ‎health centers .

Teaching and Learning

The teaching methods at psychology and counseling department ‎are incoherence with the modern methods of teaching which ‎linking theory and practice in the scientific field, where these ‎methods focus on the learner as the center of the learning process, ‎therefore there is no course at psychology department without ‎practice such as: case studies, project and practical counseling ‎programs. Teaching methods also focus on dialogue, personal ‎development models and using multimedia in learning process.
