Overview
The Sharia and Islamic Banks program of the An-Najah National University seeks to turn out graduates who are distinctive academically, culturally, morally and missionarly. It also endeavors to make these graduates possess a good basic knowledge of Islamic law, traditional financial and banking sciences and Islamic banking in particular. This is in addition to making them possess the right qualifications to assume a teaching or missionary job or a financial and banking job in Islamic financial institutions. The program also strives to supply the society with qualified academics, specialists and experts to meet the religious and educational needs of the people in the field of Islamic shari'a and in the field of Islamic economy and Islamic banks work in particular.

In cooperation with the local community, the department produces graduates who are able to work in banking, finance and business sector, the ministry of education and the endowments department.
Teaching and Learning
The department relies on interactive education where teachers are facilitators and students are participants in the teaching-learning process. Thus education has moved from the teacher-centered approach to the student centered approach where discussion, reports and e-learning are used.
Career Opportunities
The Islamic banking graduate is expected to be able to do all the following:
- Call for Islam in a modern way and introduce it in simple manner and use a moderate approach particularly when it comes to his/her specialization: contemporary fiqh transaction sciences, economic issues and current Islamic banking.
- Answer people's religious and legal questions and give fatwas (decrees) about current fiqh financial transactions as well as economic and Islamic banking issues.
- Deliver a heart touching and thought- provoking religious lesson particularly in contemporary fiqh transaction sciences, contemporary economic and Islamic banking issues.
- Use modern technology (computers) and modern resources to conduct scientific research in shari'a sciences, fiqh of transactions, and contemporary Islamic economic, banking and financial sciences.Assume a financial or banking position in Islamic financial institutions and any other financial institutions.
- Recite the Holy Qur'an with observation and application of recitation and elocution rules and values.
- Lead prayer services in mosques.
- Teach Islamic education discipline in schools and use modern teaching methods.

General requirements
For students who would like to undertake a course (one subject) or an Academic semester (several courses during one academic semester) the procedure is as following:
- Browse the academic programs which are offered, read carefully the courses which are intended,
- Please note that An-Najah University is not responsible for credit transferee to your national academic system. Thus you should transfer these in advance at your home institution.
- Once your selection is clear, you can contact the international relations office in order to process your application inside the university.
- Once you receive the admission confirmation letter you can start obtaining the visa and travel documents, and come to An-Najah.
- After finishing your study, you will be provided by certification documents in English language only, assigned with course/courses description that are needed to support your admission and credit transfer at your home institution.
