Overview
This BSc Dietetics (Hons) is offered at the Queen Margaret University prepares you for work as a dietitian. In addition to placements within the NHS, this course also offers other practice-based opportunities with voluntary organisations. These experiences enable you to put what you have learnt into practice and often as a stepping stone to your first job.
Dietetics focuses on the management and the prevention of nutrition-related disorders at an individual and population level.
The course is a scientific programme of studies that takes you through a clinically and practically focused study of disease, health, food and nutrition. The course prepares you for work as a dietitian in a variety of settings.
Careers
Most graduates elect to work within various healthcare settings, including the NHS. Others work in health education, health promotion, general practice, private healthcare and government advisory posts. Some graduates apply for the opportunity to study for a higher degree (MSc, MPhil or PhD).

- A Level: AB
- Irish Leaving Certificate: H3 H3 H3 H3
- International Baccalaureate: 28 points
- Required Subjects: Normally Chem and Biol and preferably one other science (may include Maths or Home Economics) at Higher/A Level or equivalent AND Maths and Eng at S/Int2/N5/GCSE level.
- Mature/Access: Access to Science. We welcome applications from mature students with relevant qualifications in biology and chemistry and /or experience.
