Overview
The Nautical Science/Maritime Operations at University of Trinidad and Tobago envisions a globally competitive maritime hub within Trinidad and Tobago. The existing local maritime industry is built around the local energy sector and despite an established and mature energy sector the maritime industry remains embryonic.
Learning outcomes
Existing shore based careers include Marine Pilots, Harbourmasters, Maritime Lawyers, Port Captains, Ship Surveyors, Terminal Operators, and Cargo Planners. Many persons currently employed in these areas have had to access the required training from foreign universities and institutions. A holistic local training institution answering to the needs of this sector is required within Trinidad and Tobago and in this regard the Bachelor of Science in Maritime Operations/Nautical Science (the Programme) has been developed.
