Overview
The Bachelor Interactive Media Design (I/M/D) at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) is for students who want to impact society by designing meaningful interactivity between people, machines, systems, processes, societies and cultures - where "human" is always the most important factor.
To this end, students learn how to develop a critical and engaged understanding and standpoint towards social and cultural issues, with strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills. Emphasis is placed on developing high-quality, traditional and digital design skills, while promoting aesthetic, ethical, social and cultural theories and sensitivities that foster an open, artistic approach. Experimentation and research into new areas of design innovation and collaboration - such as bio-design, artificial intelligence, the meta-verse, responsive environments (on -and offline) and physical separation - is complemented by a focus on practical concerns of social application and impact.
Career Prospects
After graduation, you will be able to work as a designer on many different social and cultural levels, engaging creatively with other professionals and with the public to create new solutions for complex problems, using your artistic intuition and design skills. Our graduates work successfully for commercial or public design agencies and NGOs or start their own creative practices in the independent sector throughout the world.
