Photography is a wide field with multiple possibilities for image-making, meaning-making and sharing the stories of our worlds. For you to develop and maintain your independent practice in this ever-shapeshifting field, our four-year study programme will help you to define your specific interests and solidify your original yet informed photographic voice.

Our programme at Royal Academy of Art, The Hague is centred on making and understanding of images, and starts with a variety of short-term photography assignments, progressing towards longer-term, self-directed projects. For us, collective learning is key. You will be working with peers from different international backgrounds, and this diversity of cultures will enrich your artistic and professional growth. We encourage openness to experimentation in embracing discoveries during your studies.

The contemporary work field of professional photography is the starting point for the overall study trajectory. Our international team of teachers reflects the diversity of the professionals of today. They are all practicing photographers working in a variety of fields - from fine arts to documentary and editorial to fashion. We educate you to become an outstanding photographer and true author of your work.

Research is the base of every project. There is a strong emphasis on audience engagement and entrepreneurial skills; you communicate your work on different platforms. As a KABK graduate you will know how to connect with the professional field and build, maintain and develop your own photography practice.
