Overview
The Environmental Geoscience programme at the University of Regina provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the physical forces shaping our planet and the impact of human activity on natural systems. This degree integrates core earth science principles with practical applications in environmental monitoring and sustainable resource development.
Why Environmental Geoscience at the University of Regina?
Students at the University of Regina benefit from a curriculum accredited by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS). This professional alignment ensures that graduates meet the national standards required to pursue a career as a registered professional geoscientist. The university provides access to specialised facilities, including the Saskatchewan Geological Survey’s subsurface core repository and various dedicated research laboratories.
The programme emphasises experiential learning through two intensive field schools. During these sessions, students spend up to ten days in the field developing essential skills in geological mapping, rock description, and structural measurement. Additionally, the optional co-operative education designation allows students to complete paid work terms in the public or private sectors, gaining professional experience before graduation.
