Overview

In the 1995 academic year, the department was renamed the Department of Visual Communications Design. In response to the concept of adult continuing education, the department began accepting students into its two-year vocational college program in the 1996 academic year.

During the same year, the Institute was upgraded to the Chaoyang University of Technology and the College of Design was established. The College of Design is comprised of the Department of Visual Communications Design, the Department of Industrial Design, the Department of Architecture, and the Department of Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture. The Graduate Institute of Design was established during the 2002 academic year and offers programs in Visual Communications and Industrial Design.

Features

From the very beginning, the department has maintained four founding ideals: The classroom as studio model creates an environment where learning and professional practice happen simultaneously.

Small classes raise the quality of instruction in the Visual Communication Design program from Chaoyang University of Technology. A 4-year sequence of computer instruction is appropriate for design talent for the information age. It is important to focus on the development of local culture.
