Design NABA, New Academy of Fine Arts

Overview

The BA in Design at NABA helps students understand how people use objects and experience spaces, then apply that understanding to design projects. Taught in Italian and English at NABA’s Milan and Rome campuses, this three-year programme combines cultural and scientific study with workshops, experimentation with materials, visual representation and prototyping.

After a shared first year, students choose a specialisation available at their campus:

• Interior Design — Milan and Rome: Students explore domestic, public and urban spaces, and the relationships between environments, objects and human experience.
• Product Design — Milan: Students build on the heritage of industrial design while exploring service design, self-production and digital fabrication.
• Product and Innovation Design — Rome: Students use new technologies, techniques and materials to develop original products and their own contemporary design approach.

The programme awards 180 CFA and leads to a First Level Academic Degree. Graduates may work as: 

• Product designers;
• Interior designers;
• Furniture designers;
• Retail designers;
• Exhibition designers;
• Service designers

in studios, companies, cultural organisations and multidisciplinary teams.

Accreditation

NABA’s Bachelor of Arts qualifications are recognised by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), have full legal status and are equivalent to the corresponding university degrees. The academic credits awarded can support progression to further study at academies and universities in Italy and abroad, subject to each institution’s admission requirements.
