Overview

In addition to traditional Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science degree offerings, University of North Dakota's MLS program has a cohort program with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and affiliation agreements with higher education institutions in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Arizona and Montana. The program has over 70 clinical affiliates in 12 states. Students are able to complete coursework at both a Bachelor's and Master's level online nationwide.

Mission

The mission of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences is to educate laboratory professionals to meet the healthcare nees of the state, region, and the nation. The department is dedicated to providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed as practicing professionals.

The Bachelor of Science in MLS Degree, 2+2 route of study, is for students who have not previously earned a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university. This curriculum consists of 2 years pre-professional coursework (pre-MLS) followed by 2 years professional coursework (BS-MLS).

Students who complete the 4 semesters of pre-professional MLS curriculum at UND are eligible to apply for the professional curriculum in the summer prior to the start of their junior year. The students' junior year, or first year of their professional curriculum, includes several professional courses such as Hematology, General Microbiology and Clinical Immunology as well as courses needed to complete the University's Essential Studies requirements for a Bachelor's of Science degree.
