Overview
Provision is made to ensure breadth in knowledge and competency in useful skills such as communication, while depth is ensured through the requirements for the major. For the Major in Mathematical Sciences at Nanyang Technological University, apart from analytical and reasoning skills, together with problem-solving skills, acquired through the learning of rigorous mathematical concepts, students will also be able to pick up computing skills, technical communication techniques, as well as have the opportunity to learn how mathematics is connected with other disciplines such as biology, computer science, economics and finance.
Opportunities for deeper investigations in the subject are also provided for students who seek extra challenge through special Courses, supervised independent study and research projects.

- A Level Holders: Applicants with the GCE A Level qualification who intend to major in Mathematical Sciences or Mathematics & Economics should have a good grade in Mathematics at H2 Level (or Mathematics or Further Mathematics at A Level, if taken before 2007). Economics (at H1 or H2 Level) is NOT required for the Mathematics & Economics major.
- IB Holders: Applicants with the International Baccalaureate qualification who intend to major in Mathematical Sciences or Mathematics & Economics should have a good grade in a Mathematics subject at Higher Level. Economics (at HL or SL) is NOT required for the Mathematics & Economics major.
