Overview
The International Bachelor in Natural Sciences from the Roskilde University offers you the opportunity to study natural science in an international environment. Foreign students make up 80% of the programme’s participants, so you will become part of an exciting study environment that will prepare you to work with a broad range of nationalities in international companies and organizations.
From the very first day, the project work will teach you to think and work based on research. Each term, you will formulate a specific science problem in collaboration with your project group. At the end of the term, you must present a research-based solution that is based on scientific literature and preferably on your own experiments. Each of your projects will have a researcher assigned, who will act as your supervisor throughout the process.
Daily life while studying
You will experience a unique learning environment, where teaching takes place in small groups and with a strong sense of social cohesion. At the end of each week, you can relax in Natcaféen, which is run by the first-year students.
This is our social meeting place, where we relax after a hard week’s work. We play card and dice games, table football and we chat with both old and new students. This is also where we hold graduation parties, table football tournaments, Halloween parties, Christmas parties and techno parties.
Career and qualifications
International Bachelor in Natural Sciences teaches you a cross-disciplinary understanding of scientific theories and tools. You also have the opportunity to acquire a range of subject-specific competencies in demand in the job market, such as:
- Coding and simulation (Python and Latex)
- Statistics and data processing
- Experimental design, fieldwork, and laboratory techniques
- Mathematical modelling, scenario development, and projection
- Project management and innovation
- Experimental work in chemical, physical, and biological laboratories
Depending on the subjects you choose during your bachelor's and subsequent master's, a natural science profile opens up a wide range of career opportunities. Start your own business, become a researcher or educator, or find employment such as:
- Medicinal Biologist: Contribute to the development of diagnostic tools or medicines in pharmaceutical companies.
- Ecotoxicologist: Work in companies, government agencies, or universities, using your knowledge of ecology, water, soil, and environmental contaminants to reduce toxins in the environment.
- Data Analyst: Discover new unknown connections in large datasets through your skills in mathematics, statistics, and programming.
- Physicist: Work on the properties, aging, and durability of materials such as plastics or paint.
- Environmental Consultant: Advise various stakeholders, develop strategies, and communicate about complex environmental challenges.
