Overview
The course is designed to create engineers capable of designing and developing engineered solutions to problems or opportunities in agriculture (particularly horticulture), fisheries and regional farming communities.
Throughout this degree there is a strong emphasis on practical skills and you will be given opportunities to apply the skills you have learnt in regional locations.
As a graduate, you will be prepared to work in teams with agricultural scientists, environmental biologists and other specialists to deliver solutions to problems experienced in agriculture and in regional communities generally.
What is Agricultural Engineering?
Agriculture is an essential industry, both because of the food it produces and the employment it generates.
South Australia has around 50 million hectares of agricultural land and close to 16,000 farm and agricultural companies.
Agricultural engineers are resilient and creative professionals who apply engineering knowledge and skills to problems relating to the adaptation of farming practices to climate change, sustainable agricultural production, the environmental impacts of farming and fishing and the post-harvest management of agricultural products.
