Overview
Our Sports Coaching course has been designed in consultation with the National Governing Bodies of a range of sports and local authorities, to ensure it reflects current industry standards and developments. A distinct part of the course is the opportunity to gain invaluable coaching experience with a number of key partners, including the National Governing Body of your chosen sport, local authority or schools.
Your teaching and practical exercises will take place at USW Sport Park, our £3.7m state-of-the-art coaching and performance development centre. You’ll also have access to our lab facilities at the Pontypridd Campus.

General requirements
280 UCAS tariff points, eg, BBC at A-level
Additional criteria: A-levels to include at least a grade C in a science subject, or a grade B in PE and exclude General Studies.
Equivalent Level 3 qualifications to A-levels are accepted. You’ll be expected to evidence coaching practice at a variety of levels. In some cases, you’ll be expected to have a UKCC Level 1 coaching award.
Five GCSEs at grade C or above, including Mathematics and English Language.
An enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) disclosure (additional cost applies) is required.
