Programme Structure
Year One
During the first year of your retail management degree you will gain an understanding of contemporary retail landscapes that consider the modern high street, online, mobile and multichannel retailing. You will learn about managing retail operations and the key principles of management. You will also gain an understanding of the functional areas of management, to include supply chain management, marketing, finance and human resource management. Modules include:

- Principles and Practices of Retail Management
- Work and Organisational Behaviour
- Supply Chain Management
- Foundations in Marketing
- Accounting in a Business Context
Year Two
On the second year of the retail management degree you will be introduced to specialist retail subjects such as merchandising and category management, retail supply chains and consumer behaviour. Part of the year will require you to undertake an exciting 10 week assessed internship with an established reputable retail organisation.
Over the course of your internship you will you learn and practice, at first hand, the key managerial principles and dynamics of retail management. Your progress in employment will be reviewed and reflected on through your engagement with the University’s social media platform. You will be expected to produce and disseminate video, photographic and written blogs, podcasts and reflective journals that capture your learning journey through the application of practice and theory. Modules include:
- Bricks Clicks and Omni Channel Retailing
- Retail and Supply Chain Management
- Brands and Consumer Lifestyles
- Retail Internship
Your internship will accumulate to you presenting at a retail conference organised in partnership with the University and key partners from the retail industry. The work experience you undertake will improve your tacit knowledge and future employability as a retail manager.
Year Three
During your final year you will encouraged to take a strategic approach to management whilst building your knowledge of retail ethics and sustainability, managing Omni-channel retailing and dealing with big data for customer relationship management. In addition, you will be given the opportunity to work with a retail organisation to complete a live consultancy project. Modules include:

- Ethics and Sustainability: Theory and Practice

- Leadership and Management
- Retail Consultancy Project
