Description

They’re intended to help well qualified students to study Physics and Astronomy at Southampton University, and to build greater inclusivity in our academic community.

There are 10 scholarships available – 5 based on merit, and another 5 for applicants who meet widening participation criteria. They are renewable for subsequent years of study (subject to the applicant’s continuing academic performance).

Benefits

There are 10 stipend scholarships of £5,000 available to new undergraduate students in Physics and Astronomy.

The scholarships are renewable for subsequent years of study (subject to continuing academic performance) for up to £20,000 total.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:  

  • have submitted your application to study on an undergraduate programme in Physics and Astronomy by the UCAS equal consideration date, 6pm on Wednesday 14 January
  • have a conditional or unconditional offer from the University of Southampton
  • book an online or in-person interview with the School of Physics and Astronomy
  • be paying your fees yourself
  • not be in receipt of any external sponsorship if you are an international student

If you receive an offer from us, we’ll send you more details of what you need to submit to be considered for the scholarship, as well as details on our Offer Holder Visit Days and interviews.   

You will need to submit an essay of up to 500 words on a physics topic of your choice and book an interview. Your essay must be submitted no later than 7 days before your interview.
