Description
They’re intended to help well qualified students to study Physics and Astronomy at Southampton University, and to build greater inclusivity in our academic community.
There are 10 scholarships available – 5 based on merit, and another 5 for applicants who meet widening participation criteria. They are renewable for subsequent years of study (subject to the applicant’s continuing academic performance).
Benefits
There are 10 stipend scholarships of £5,000 available to new undergraduate students in Physics and Astronomy.
The scholarships are renewable for subsequent years of study (subject to continuing academic performance) for up to £20,000 total.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship you must:
- have submitted your application to study on an undergraduate programme in Physics and Astronomy by the UCAS equal consideration date, 6pm on Wednesday 14 January
- have a conditional or unconditional offer from the University of Southampton
- book an online or in-person interview with the School of Physics and Astronomy
- be paying your fees yourself
- not be in receipt of any external sponsorship if you are an international student

You will need to submit an essay of up to 500 words on a physics topic of your choice and book an interview. Your essay must be submitted no later than 7 days before your interview.
