Description

The Andrew Beacham Awards give aspiring, talented rugby players from South Africa and Zimbabwe the financial support to follow their dreams by providing annual tuition fee reductions.

The awards were established in 2022 to honour the memory of Andrew Beacham. Andrew enlisted numerous students to Hartpury College and Hartpury University, many of whom went on to excel as part of Hartpury’s Rugby Academy and even further in their rugby careers.

This annual award has been set up as a way to honour and recognise Andrew’s love of sport, passion for nurturing new talent and giving young people an opportunity to develop as athletes whilst gaining an education, setting them up for future success.

Benefits

There are three £1,500 tuition fee discounts available as part of the awards, applicable for each year of degree study at Hartpury University.

This will be awarded in the form of a tuition fee discount only and cannot be used in place of any required deposit. The tuition fee discount will be deducted off your second tuition fee instalment. Once you have been granted the award, you will receive a revised invoice for your first-year tuition fee. No cash alternative is available.

Eligibility

The award recipients will be selected by a committee from the Rugby Academy, including the Director of Rugby. The committee will decide by considering the below requirements and/or application elements, considering whether the prospective recipient;

  • can demonstrate a high level or rugby participation and provide video footage and coach references;
  • is confirmed as an international fee-paying student (this information is contained in your offer letter);
  • is either currently residing in South Africa or Zimbabwe or has a South African or Zimbabwean passport;
  • has received and accepted an offer to study a full-time degree at Hartpury University;
  • has confirmed Hartpury University as a firm choice on UCAS;
  • has paid their full tuition fee deposit (50% of your first-year tuition fee).
