Description

Canerector Foundation Scholarship in the Skilled Trades is awarded to full-time students who have demonstrated passion and desire to build a successful career in the skilled trades.

Benefits

Canerector Foundation Scholars will receive an initial scholarship of $1,000 applied towards student accounts.Scholars who mentor current and prospective students in skilled trades; participate in co-curricular activities; and maintain a minimum of 3.0 grade point average will be awarded an additional $1,000 per term, up to a maximum of $4,000.

Along with financial support, the program provides wrap-around support facilitated by a program staff lead, who helps students navigate their specific situation and achieve their program objectives. This extra support increases the recruitment, retention, and employability of students.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person/ Refugee
  • Applicants must be entering the first year of an eligible skilled trade program of study
  • Applicants must be registered full-time
  • Applicants must demonstrate willingness to provide mentorship to current and prospective students in skilled trades training programs at the College and commit to participating in co-curricular events
  • Applicants must maintain a minimum of 3.0 grade point average

Applicants must add their Social Insurance Number via their ACSIS account in order to be awarded funding.

Applicants will be required to upload a current resume, listing work and/or volunteer experience, as well as any extra-curricular activities in the community or school.

All applicants will be notified of a decision by email. Note: short-listed applicants may be invited to an interview held by the selection committee.
