Description
The scheme includes a range of scholarships for students studying through the medium of Welsh. Depending on the proportion of the course taught in Welsh and the subject area, students may be eligible for a Main Scholarship, Incentive Scholarship, Medicine Scholarship, or Nursing Scholarship.
Additional awards, such as the Anne Brooke Scholarship, Llŷr Roberts Memorial Bursary, and Gareth Pierce Bursary, are available for eligible students.
Benefits
For every 20 credits you study in Welsh each year, you will receive £250; for every 40 credits you study in Welsh each year, you will receive £500.
The most you could get is £500.
Eligibility
- Meet any additional programme-specific or scholarship-specific requirements.
Eligibility depends on the scholarship but generally requires applicants to:
- Be applying for an undergraduate programme at Cardiff University.
Study a specified proportion of their degree through the medium of Welsh:
- 80 credits (66%) per year for the Main Scholarship.
- 40 credits (33%) per year for the Incentive, Medicine, or Nursing Scholarships.

Submit the application before the published deadline for the relevant scholarship.
Some scholarships require separate application forms, while others are linked to the Main Scholarship application.

30 April 2026 – Llŷr Roberts Memorial Bursary.
1 May 2026 – Nursing Scholarship.
13 August 2026 – Incentive Scholarship applications open.
