Description

Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarships are provided by the Australian Government to support both domestic and international students undertaking Research Doctorate and Research Masters degrees.

As part of this program, a RTP Fees Offset is available to cover the course tuition fees that would otherwise be payable by the student.

Benefits

The total scholarship value is between $41,100 to $59,600 annually (2026 value)

RTP Fees Offset covers the cost of:

course tuition fees; and

a single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policy for international students.

Eligibility

You must be one of the following:

  • An Australian citizen
  • A New Zealand citizen
  • Australian permanent resident
  • Australian humanitarian visa holder
  • An International student

You must meet the following criteria:

  • meet the eligibility criteria for admission to a research degree (domestic students only);
  • meet Monash's competitive scholarship selection process requirements (international students only); and
  • meet Monash English language proficiency requirements.

Note that RTP Fees-Offsets can not be transferred between higher education providers.

Graduate research scholarships applications are submitted at the same time as your course application, unless you are already enrolled.  Whether you are a new applicant or a current student, the myApp Portal is used for both course admission and scholarship applications.

You do not need to select specific scholarships, eligible applicants are automatically considered for all available graduate research scholarships.
