Budapest city life
Budapest’s architectural and historic importance has earned it a place on the UNESCO World Heritage list, where it is described as “one of the world’s outstanding urban landscapes”. Hungary’s capital doesn’t just look beautiful – it also offers plenty of things to do and explore, from world-renowned spas, art galleries and classical music, to trendy cocktail bars, excellent cuisine and outdoor festivals.
While in Budapest, make sure to discover the historic Castle Hill with a walking tour and take a Danube cruise for beautiful panoramic views. You can also relax in one of Budapest's famous baths, such as the Király Baths, the Rudas Baths or the Gellért Baths, and enjoy rides with the super cute yellow subway line (the oldest subway in the European mainland).
Other important places to visit in Budapest include: the Chain Bridge, Matthias Church, Budapest Parliament, Heroes’ Square, St. Stephen’s Basilica, Andrássy Avenue, the Fisherman's Bastion, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Vajdahunyad Castle, or the Spoon Cafe.
Budapest has a number of relaxing paradises, such as the Millenáris Park, the Botanical Garden, the City Park, the Margaret Island, the People's Park and the Csepel Island. The best known of Budapest's outdoor cultural events is the huge Sziget music festival, held on Óbudai Island, every August.
