Humble beginnings aren't always recognized.

As a first year student, the National University of Samoa has led me to develop my capabilities and maturity, into the reality of the world, and in doing so encourages students to work hard. It was enlightening with many obstacles and challenges such as the Covid 19. However NUS students have limited options in expanding their studies due to the lack of credentials and recognition, in certain fields of study. Overall it is a step forward to a successful academic life.

A shift of responsibility

The National University of Samoa is a good preparatory academy for students who wish to excel in learning. Currently, I am an undergraduate under the UPY program of the university which by means is a preparatory year for students to have an experience of how university life will be. It is also an academy test for students all over Samoa considering their competence level by means to get scholarships to be enrolled in Universities overseas or continue school there. My experience there, is such challenging! It is due to the unfamiliarity of how schooling is done there conpared to high school. In high school, both teachers and students on ratio of 50 to 50 responsible for the students learning whereas in university the student alone is responsible for their learning, whereas the teacher will only come in the picture when needed. This pushed to work harder in order to adapt to this shift of learning strategy from high school to university
