Student services
More than 1900 international students attend Polytechnique Montréal. The International Students Office is here to help you!
The International Student Office serves only students once admitted to Polytechnique.
We give you the support you need throughout your stay with us, namely as regards academic, social, personal and intercultural adaptations. Explore our website through the left menu to know everything on the topics that matter to you: housing, authorizations to study, work and internships, insurance, finances, and more!
Housing services
We strongly encourage students to look for apartments only after they have arrived in Montréal, being sure to book temporary accommodation for their first week.
Though École Polytechnique does not have student dormitories, students can apply for a place in the Université de Montréal residences. Keep in mind that space is extremely limited and that you must reserve as soon as possible (as of early March).
Library services
The Library’s mission is to provide the information resources and services required for teaching, research and support to the School’s activities.
As such, it is dedicated to the pursuit of study and thought and must actively cooperate with the Library and Information Community to ensure clients have privileged access to their resources.
ICT services
IT Services have now upgraded Polytechnique’s institutional wireless network. The new network offers increased redundancy and simplified, highly secure access to all members of the community. The network also has better coverage and can be accessed in 80% of the buildings on campus.
Medical services
Québec law requires international students studying in Québec to have valid health insurance. École Polytechnique’s group insurance plan is therefore compulsory for all foreign students enrolled in the school. As such, international students are automatically insured, right from the time they register. However, some students are entitled to claim exemption from this plan.
Campus life
- Main building
Each year, close to 6,000 students are welcomed here, where they are taught the new realities of engineering. The addition of the Laboratoire de structures Hydro-Québec has expanded the building.
Students primarily learn about the structural aspects of major civil engineering constructions in this international research building.
