Overview
The Mechatronics specialisation at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen is one of the three specialisations of the Electrical Engineering programme. From a fully automated production line to a robot who assists a surgeon in the operating theatre: mechatronics is everywhere. The Mechatronics specialisation focuses on the design and control of mechanical systems. It’s the ultimate combination of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and information technology. Will you become an expert in industrial robotics or PLC control and come up with the ultimate design?
During your programme, you will develop knowledge and skills in everything in the field of electrical engineering. For example, you will work on robotics, programming, control systems and data communication. You will immediately start working on assignments from real clients in the field and have plenty of room to organise your own studies.
Why study Mechatronics at Hanze University of Applied Sciences?
- Programme developed jointly with the business community: you do challenging, practical assignments at, for example, the Energy Academy Europe or at ENTRANCE, Hanze's Centre of Expertise in the energy transition. You work with real companies in a real working environment. So you gain work experience during your studies and help companies become more effective, innovative and sustainable.
- Passionate, driven groups: the degree programme is small-scale and personal: you work in small, motivated groups. The teachers know you and there is plenty of room for one-on-one contact. You also have a mentor who plays an important role in your personal and professional development. We also have a really fun study association where you are very welcome.
- Great job prospects: Upon completing your studies you can work for a wide variety of companies. As a control specialist, industrial automation engineer, mechatronics design engineer or service engineer. Your can do this at many companies from pure product development agencies to multinationals where mechatronics are central, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Many of our students go on to work in sectors such as healthcare, (sustainable) energy or transportation. The chance of finding a job is very high, because the world is eager for well-trained mechatronics specialists.
