Overview

The University of Toledo's Public Health program is housed within the College of Health and Human Services in the School of Population Health and explores critical health issues, such as:

UToledo’s focus is hands-on practice. Public health undergraduates:

Opportunities to shadow health professionals during their first year
Earn credit through "mini-internships" with community agencies or organizations during their second year
Complete internships during their fourth year

Public health is a growing field with a variety of employment opportunities.

Public health bachelor's degree highlights

Hands-on learning. All students complete internships and have the opportunity to volunteer in the community.
Undergrad research opportunities. Our award-winning, public health faculty has diverse research interests and encourages students to get involved. Faculty members have published extensively on such topics as:
- Cancer prevention
- Child and adolescent health
- Death and dying
- Human sexuality
- Minority health
- Nutrition
- Substance use
Networking. UToledo has educated public health and health education majors at the doctoral, master and bachelor levels for more than 30 years. The College of Health and Human Services has one of the most active alumni affiliates at UToledo. This offers a great networking opportunity for graduates looking for jobs.
Pre-med track. The public health major is a great fit for students interested in medical careers.
Advanced degrees. You will be well prepared for graduate school. UToledo offers a master’s degree in public health and a Ph.D. in health education.
