You’ll be taught by active researchers, including NHS staff and biomedical science practitioners. From the start, you’ll gain practical lab experience, and in your final year, you’ll have a whole term dedicated to your own research project – a rare opportunity to focus and build skills that prepare you for work or further study.

This course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology (RSB) for the purpose of meeting in part the academic and experience requirement for the Membership and Chartered Biologist (CBiol).

General requirements

A level: BBC including Biology or Human Biology grade B or Double Award Applied Science at grade BB including the practical endorsement of any science qualifications taken.

GCSE: Mathematics grade C

Access to HE Diploma: If an offer is made candidates will be required to pass the Access to Higher Education Diploma with 36 level 3 credits at distinction and 9 at merit, and to obtain a proportion of the total level 3 credits in particular subjects at distinction or merit grade.

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (formerly BTEC National Diploma):Subjects likely to be acceptable are Applied Science, Biomedical Science and Medical Science. International Baccalaureate: 30 points overall or 15 points at HL including Biology 5 at HL or 6 at SL and Mathematics 4 at HL or SL
