Overview
The History and Theology (Hons) BA degree from the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) provides a distinctive study opportunity combining two different but complementary subjects
The history element provides a thorough examination of medieval, early modern and modern Britain, Europe and the wider world. The theology element, while also engaging with other Christian traditions, focuses on theology, primarily from an evangelical and Reformed perspective.
Each year, you will build on your analytical and research abilities through a series of skills modules.
You can also choose to specialise in Scottish History at the upper levels and graduate with a BA (Hons) Scottish History and Theology degree.
- You will have access to recognised experts in both disciplines with specific research interests that are reflected in their teaching
- HTC is recognised by the Church of Scotland, the United Free Church and other denominations as a training provider
- You will have access to a wealth of resources through the university's Libraries and Electronic Resources and HTC's impressive library has over 60,000 titles, including three special collections.
- You can study individual modules for personal or professional development
- You can specialise in Scottish History at the upper levels to enable you to exit with a Scottish History and Theology degree
- The humanities staff at UHI specialise in high quality video-conference teaching supported by a dynamic virtual learning environment and expansive online resources
- There are opportunities to volunteer at local museums and archives, and occasional voluntary field trips in the university's region also enhance the experience of your degree
