Overview

The goal of the Urban Studies program of The University of Toledo is to provide students with a broad understanding of urban issues in a global world.

Students study all aspects of cities, including economic development and urban planning. The program is interdisciplinary. Undergraduates take classes in economics, geography, history, political science and sociology.

Urban Studies Bachelor's Degree Highlights

Flexibility. UToledo urban studies students have the freedom to focus on their interest areas, whether it’s urban environmental policy, history, planning or some other area.

Toledo — an urban learning laboratory. Our students have ample opportunities to study the city right outside their dorm rooms. Like most Midwestern cities, Toledo has its share of challenges as it transitions from a manufacturing economy. Students can work with local government and community agencies as they grapple with the challenges of modern urban life.

Urban Affairs Center. Experts at this on-campus facility work to enhance the Toledo area’s economy and quality of life. They identify challenges and help find solutions in the areas of neighborhood, urban and regional development. The center is a great resource for students interested in urban research or in connecting with professionals in the field.
