Founded in 1975, our department graduated Turkey’s first food engineers in 1979. Since its founding, it has continued to train food engineers, drawing on the experience and sense of responsibility gained over the past 50 years.Food Engineering is the branch of engineering concerned with the production, processing, storage, and distribution of healthy, safe, and high-quality foods. Food engineers use principles of biology, chemistry, and engineering to develop food products, design production processes, and ensure that these processes are carried out efficiently, reliably, and sustainably. In addition, they develop new food products, improve the quality of existing products, ensure food safety and facility hygiene, make production systems more environmentally friendly, and optimize processes such as packaging and shelf life.
