Description
The brightest minds from across Sub-Saharan Africa, who have been orphaned or grown up with a single parent, will have the opportunity to study at the University of Warwick, thanks to a new partnership with the Ashinaga Association in the UK. These scholarships are aimed at future leaders who will use their education to support their continent’s development.
Benefits
They are pleased to offer 5 scholarships for students from sub-Saharan Africa to study and live at Warwick for 3-4 years.
The chosen scholars will receive:
Full tuition fees paid by Warwick’s Undergraduate Global Excellence Scholarships; travel, visa, and living costs paid by Ashinaga UK
Leadership training from Ashinaga UK
Summer funding for internships to develop professional skills
Dedicated support from Ashinaga UK staff
Eligibility
There are two stages to the Ashinaga Africa Initiative application process:
- Applicant Registration: all applicants must first confirm their eligibility by registering for the program. Only students who register for the program and are deemed eligible will receive the application form by email.
- Each decision about an applicant’s eligibility is based on the criteria outlined previously and their academic record. Our expectations for the academic record of an applicant reflects the academic level we expect students to have in order thrive as part of our intensive academic leadership programme.

Application deadline
After registration, eligible applicants will be invited to complete the full application form. After reviewing each application, successful applicants will be invited to the Ashinaga Assessment in April where Ashinaga conducts individual interviews and sets an examination to better understand students’ academic abilities and career goals in Sub-Saharan Africa. Students must bring all original academic documents and identification documents to the interview. Failure to do so may result in dismissal from the application process.
