The Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund was established in 1987 to commemorate the former late Governor Sir Edward Youde. The purpose of the Fund is to provide for and encourage the education of, or research by the people of Hong Kong. In particular, it provides grants or loans with or without interest for the furtherance of education, learning or research within or without Hong Kong.
The Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowships for Overseas Studies aim at financing outstanding students for overseas postgraduate studies. They are expected to contribute significantly to the development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (Hong Kong) after graduation.
The maximum is HK$300,000 per year. The Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Council may adjust downward the value by taking into account the actual university fees, necessary living expenses and other award(s) held concurrently by the fellow(s) to finance their overseas studies.
