Description

Hodcroft Larsen Scholarship is provided by Ken Hodcroft (BSc Chemical Engineering, 1976) and Berge Larsen (BSc Chemical Engineering, 1975).  

 

Benefits

The scholarship is worth £3,000 per year for three years of study.

Eligibility

  • Two scholarships are available to Home students on an undergraduate Chemical Engineering degree programme at Newcastle University, commencing their degree in September 2025.
  • Preference will be given to a female undergraduate home student, ordinarily resident in the UK.
  • The scholarship will be awarded to two students on the programme who come from a widening participation background.
  • Widening Participation (WP) initiatives aim to increase diversity in higher education by addressing under-representation.
  • WP students come from backgrounds where higher education progression is less common due to factors like location, socio-economic background, ethnicity, or personal circumstances.

The scholarship will be awarded to one student on the programme who comes from a widening participation background and/or has a low household income, and is able to demonstrate financial need for the award. You must have applied for the full student loan to which you are entitled and be able to produce evidence of this. Applications will be judged on academic potential, enthusiasm, and aptitude for the chosen programme of study.
