Description
The Scholarships are designed to support an individual who has been injured, wounded, or sick as a direct result of military service or an immediate member of their family.
Durham University and their generous supporters hope to make a real difference to the lives of Military Scholars. The intention is to provide a life-changing opportunity for committed students who have made the personal choice to return to education following a period of military service. Scholars can be either an individual who has been honourably discharged or their direct family member. Preference will be given to applicants who have been injured, wounded or are sick as a direct result of military service or their direct family member.

Benefits
Full-time Scholars receive £5,000 per year for a maximum of four years.
Funding can be used as either maintenance support or payment towards tuition fees.
Eligibility
- Someone who has served in The British Army, The Royal Navy, The Royal Marines or The Royal Air Force.
- An immediate family member of an ex-service person - someone who is related to the ex-service person by blood, marriage or legal agreement and who is financially dependent or co-dependent on the income and provision of the ex-service person.
- Preference will be given to applicants who are/have been wounded, injured or sick as a direct result of Military Service or their dependent family members.
- One scholarship is available for applicants studying any of the undergraduate programmes available at Durham University.
- Two scholarships are available to applicants who are applying to study undergraduate STEM subjects with preference given to applicants looking to study Engineering.
