Diverse International Women of Color, Inc is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation founded in New York on June 23, 2018. DIWC’s charitable concern is to provide scholarships to women of color who need financial assistance to study abroad. Scholarships provide deserving students the ability to achieve success at their study abroad program of choice.

Diverse International Women of Color’s mission is to inspire, encourage and promote opportunities for women of color to travel abroad, experience different cultures and broaden their horizons beyond the United States.

Diverse International Women of Color’s mission is to inspire, encourage and promote opportunities for women of color to travel abroad, experience different cultures and broaden their horizons beyond the United States.

Diverse International Women of Color believes the lack of funds should not be an obstacle for a student to achieve their study abroad goal. Therefore, it is the vision of the DIWC to provide scholarships opportunities to women of color wishing to study abroad. DIWC wants to pay it forward and remind women of color that there is a way, an avenue, to take that leap of faith to go abroad. By studying abroad, students can define their personal goals, outcomes and potentially expand their knowledge of self.

Benefits

Each DIWC recipient will receive $500 (in-person). The money can be used for tuition, book, supplies and personal expenses for your study abroad trip.

The Diverse International Women Of Color Study Abroad Scholarship is intended to assist women of color who are exceptional in their studies and in need of financial assistance to study abroad.

 

Eligibility

All applicants must:

  • Be a women of color but not limited to Black or African-American, Native American, Hispanic/Latina and Asian.
  • Must be a student and attend college or university in the United States.
  • Must have a GPA of 2.7 or higher.
  • Accepted to study abroad program (international internship is included).

All applications must have a personal statement, proof of study abroad program acceptanceletter, unofficial transcript (we must receive your official transcript if you are a recipient) and aletter of recommendation.

The application dates and deadlines for the Spring program:

Application Period: October 1 to November 20.

Application Deadline: November 20, 2023.

Notification of Awards: January 8.

Distribution of Awards: January 15.

The application deadlines for the Summer program:

Application Period: March 1, 2023 to April 17

Application Deadline: April 17

The application dates and deadlines for the Fall 2023 program:

Application Period: June 5, 2023 to July 17
