Description

The Brannan Family Scholarship was established in 2010 in honor of Samuel J. Brannan. Mr. Brannan earned his Bachelor of Science in 1959 and his Master of Arts in 1962 from Central Michigan University.    

He was an instructor in the CMU Mathematics Department for 38 years.  Mr. Brannan was a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon and ROTC.

Benefits

Amount: The number, amount, and recipient(s) of this Endowed Award will be determined by the Mathematics Department in consultation with the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Eligibility

  • A recipient of this renewable award will be a full-time junior or senior admitted to the Secondary Mathematics Education program in the College of Science and Engineering.
  • Renewal awards may vary and are contingent upon availability of funds.  
  • Recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

The selection of a student to be awarded a scholarship will be made by a committee designated by the Department of Mathematics Chairperson.  The decision will be made on the basis of:

  • Two (2) CMU faculty references.
  • Grades in university/college courses, especially mathematics.
  • University/college mathematics courses completed.
  • A paragraph written by the applicant.
  • Other factors.
