The Chester J. Brown Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 1984 by family, friends and the trust of Chester James Brown (Class of 1934), lifelong resident of Isabella County, for a student from the Central Michigan area pursuing a major within the College of the Arts and Media or the College of Science & Engineering, with a preference for Math or Chemistry.

Eligibility

  • Incoming CMU Freshman student.
  • Minimum High School GPA of 3.0. 
  • Demonstrate financial need. 
  • Resident of the Central Michigan area (Arenac, Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Midland, Montcalm, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola, or Saginaw County). 
  • Pursuing a major within the College of the Arts and Media or the College of Science & Engineering.
  • Preference for Math or Chemistry major.
