Description
Chet Riggins and the Department of African American Studies established a scholarship in the memory of the late Charlene Riggins.
Professor Riggins was a historian whose research specialized in oral, community, and women's history.
She was a dedicated scholar and mentor in the African American Studies department for 15 years.
The Charlene Riggins Scholarship is awarded to students whose research focuses on history, race, and gender.

Eligibility
This scholarship is open to students who meet the following criteria:
- Students whose academic work or research focuses on history, race, and gender.
- Must be enrolled in the 2026-2027 academic year.:
Applicants will be evaluated based on their:
- Demonstrated research interest in women’s history and/or gender studies, with a core focus on themes of history, race, and gender.
