Description
The Mircea, DeAngelis, and Young Study Abroad Scholarships were established by Dr. Ray Young, Professor Emeritus of Geography, and his wife Kiyo.
Both avid artists and advocates of global education, the Youngs created this scholarship to support undergraduate students in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) who are participating in the HSS Study Abroad Program.
This scholarship encourages students to gain valuable academic, cultural, and personal growth through international experiences.

Eligibility
This scholarship is open to students who meet the following criteria:
- Undergraduate student at Cal State Fullerton
- Must have a primary or secondary major within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS)
- Must be participating in an HSS-sponsored Study Abroad or Study Away program
- Enrollment at Cal State Fullerton for the 2026-2027 academic year
Applicants will be evaluated based on the following:
- Demonstrated plans to participate in an HSS Study Abroad or Study Away program during the upcoming academic year or semester
- The ability to clearly articulate how the program aligns with their academic and professional goals
- Quality of the response to the supplemental essay prompt
