Description
The Louise Annie Gillespie Scholarship in Physical Education was established in 2021 by Professor Emeriti Dr. Jean Barrett in honor of her Mother.
Dr. Barrett was a faculty member in the Department of Physical Education (now Kinesiology) from 1963 to 1991.
During her tenure, Dr. Barrett was instrumental in developing Cal State Fullerton’s teacher preparation program, and also served as the Titans Women’s Director of Intercollegiate Activities.
Dr. Barrett also served in a number of leadership roles within the Department and University, including Chair and Graduate Program Coordinator of the Physical Education Department and Chair of the Faculty Council (now Academic Senate).

Eligibility
- Returning and graduating undergraduate students in Kinesiology with an interest in a teachingrelated career
- Strong academic performance
- Leadership activities in the department, university, or community
- Preference may be given to students who demonstrate financial need through the application process
- The Scholarships and Awards Committee will select the recipient and the scholarship will be awarded each year, beginning in spring 2021

Attach a résumé and unofficial transcripts;
Attach a personal statement of achievement/future goals and indicate if self-nomination;
Attach a letter of support from nominator or outside reference, if self-nominated.
