Description

The Guadalupe Austin Memorial Scholarship is named for Guadalupe Austin, in her memory, by husband Steven and daughter Jennifer, to support students who have experienced financial hardship due to the death of a spouse, parent or close family member.

Steven is a 1984 graduate from the College of Communications and hopes to help others facing a loss of a loved one by providing a scholarship in Guadalupe’s name.

Benefits

The scholarship offers a $1,500 amount to help you with your studies.

Eligibility

Open to CSUF students who meet the following criteria:

  • Enrolled as a continuing student.
  • Pursuing a major or minor in the College of Communications (any of the four departments HCOM, COMD, CTVA, and COMM).
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
  • Submitted supplemental essay about facing the loss of a loved one.

Applicants will be evaluated based on:

  • Good academic standing with the University.
  • Enrollment status.
  • Essay.

Complete the Fall 2026 CSUF Scholarship Application within the Titan Scholarship Portal.

Supplemental Essay Requirement: Write a brief essay (600 words max) about your loss due to a family member’s death and its impact on your life and attach it in the "Attachments" section on the last page of the application under "Supplemental Essay".
