Description

This scholarship was established by The Johnny Carson Foundation in dedicated support of Jazz Studies students who actively participate in the Latin Jazz ensembles within the Department of Music.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to students who meet the following criteria:

  • Continuing Undergraduate or Graduate student.
  • Must be a declared Jazz Studies major.
  • Must be actively participating in a Latin Jazz ensemble within the Music Department.
  • Must be enrolled full-time for the full 2026-2027 academic year.
  • Good academic standing.

Criteria - Applicants will be evaluated based on:

  • Demonstrated talent and commitment to Latin Jazz Studies
  • Active and consistent service/participation in a Latin Jazz ensemble
  • Academic standing

This is a faculty-nominated award. Students are selected based on departmental recommendation.

The award is granted upon the student's admission to the School of Music, subsequent enrollment, and faculty nomination from the Department of Music, based on participation in the Latin Jazz program.
