Description

The Ethel Siler Jones Women's and Gender Studies Scholarship was established in 2021 with a gift from former Program Director, Dr. Kim Jones-Owen, in memory of her grandmother, Ethel Siler Jones.

Dr. Jones-Owen served as director of the Women's and Gender Studies Program from 1994-2008. Her focus on faculty and curriculum development initiatives led to the establishment of an undergraduate major in women's studies in 2004.

She also was dedicated to community outreach and promoted women's and gender-based events and activities. Dr. Jones-Owen considers her time as program director the most gratifying of her professional endeavors.
