Description
Established by a descendant of Alexander and Margery Leith in 2008 to assist students who have demonstrated an outstanding level of merit in solo performance in either Scottish piping or drumming and all-round academic ability, to attend the University of Otago.
Benefits
The current value of the scholarship is $3,500 with a cost of living review every three years.
The scholarship is payable in 10 monthly payments of $350, for the first year of study at the University of Otago or towards study fees for the second year of study, if applicable.
Eligibility
- Applications are open to students who will be in their first year of study and are planning to enroll in a music performance paper in Scottish piping and drumming at the University of Otago, in the year following the closing date.
- An additional form for music performance should be submitted to the Music Programme, School of Performing Arts.

Completed application form.
Letter of Reference from Music Tutor, using the appended ‘Referee’s Report’ form.
NCEA Level 2 Results Notice or equivalent assessment documentation, or evidence of higher educational achievement, or of being 20 years or over.
