Description
This bursary has been given gladly in loving memory of a dear mother, grandmother and graduate in History from King’s College Durham (now Newcastle University). Devoted to education, Mary Spencer was a dedicated, creative teacher of many subjects, including history, for almost fifty years. As the wife of an RAF Officer she taught throughout the UK, Zimbabwe, Cyprus and Libya.

One bursary is available to students entering the third year of the BA History programme.
Eligibility
A scholarship is available for those in Year 3 of a BA History undergraduate degree programme at Newcastle University.
To be eligible for this award you must:
- be a student in the third year of the BA History undergraduate degree programme at Newcastle University;
- have achieved an overall mark of 65 or over in your second year of study;
- have been in part-time employment during term time for the equivalent of one full semester (12 weeks) of your degree programme so far.
