Description
The University has worked closely with the University of Strathclyde Students’ Association, Scottish Refugee Council, and The Carnegie Trust to create this scholarship. Its aim is to help asylum seekers, currently in the UK, and individuals currently in the UK on humanitarian grounds to overcome obstacles in pursuing higher education.
Benefits
The scholarship is available to students who want to study for an undergraduate degree or a taught postgraduate degree at the University of Strathclyde. It covers the cost of tuition fees and provides money for essential study-related expenses.
Eligibility
Applications are open to individuals who:
- have received a conditional or unconditional offer to study an undergraduate or postgraduate taught course (except the MBA) at the University of Strathclyde for the 2026-2027 academic year (courses starting in September).
- have applied for refugee status under the 1951 UN Convention on the Status of Refugees, or are a dependent of someone who has applied, and have not yet received a decision from the Home Office. Or
- have been granted leave to remain in the UK based on Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, provided they are not eligible for student support from relevant funding bodies in Scotland, England, Wales, or Northern Ireland
- reside within the Glasgow area. Please note that this scholarship does not cover housing, living expenses, or travel costs for those living outside the Glasgow area
- have been in the UK since August 1st before the start date of their course
