Description
This non-repayable bursary is designed to provide financial support for students who have left local authority care or are irreconcilably estranged from their parents or guardians. The bursary is paid in addition to any other financial support or awards students may receive from Keele University or their local authority.
Benefits
£1,000 per academic year.
£500 graduation award upon successful completion of the degree.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be classified as a Home (UK) student for tuition fee purposes.
- Be under 25 years old at the start of their course.
- Be enrolled on an eligible undergraduate programme at Keele University.
Meet one of the following criteria:
- Have spent at least 13 weeks in local authority care since the age of 14 and have been in care on or after their 16th birthday.
- Have been privately fostered until age 16 or been subject to a Special Guardianship Order.
- Have been assessed as estranged from their parents/guardians by Student Finance England or another relevant authority.

Submit any required supporting evidence of care-experienced or estranged status.
Keele will assess the application and notify successful applicants.
