Description
The bursary is an income-assessed award designed to support students with living expenses throughout their undergraduate studies. Awards are available for Years 1–4 of eligible degree programmes (Year 5 is not eligible).
There are three levels of support, depending on the household income assessed by Student Finance. Students do not need to submit a separate bursary application but must consent to share their financial information with the University.
Benefits
There are three levels of support depending on household income as assessed by Student Finance:
If household income is between £0 and £25,000, an award of £3,100 towards living costs will be made
If household income is between £25,001 and £35,000, an award of £2,100 towards living costs will be made
If household income is between £35,001 and £42,600, an award of £1,100 towards living costs will be made
Only full-time students liable to pay £9,790 tuition fees and assessed as 'Rest of UK' for fees purposes are eligible to be assessed for this bursary.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a full-time undergraduate student.
- Have Home fee status from England, Wales or Northern Ireland.
- Be liable for the standard undergraduate tuition fee.
- Have a household income of £42,600 or below, as assessed by Student Finance.
- Consent to share their financial information with Heriot-Watt University.
