Description

The ExL Award provides funding for qualified USC undergraduate students at USC Dornsife who wish to participate in experiential learning opportunities such as service-learning, professional conferences, or overseas studies opportunities.

 

Benefits

Provides funding for qualified undergraduate Dornsife students who would otherwise be unable to participate in an experiential learning opportunity.

The amount of funding is up to $1,500 per academic year (Fall 2025 – Summer 2026)

Eligibility

  • Declared major in Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences
  • 3.0 cumulative USC GPA or better. Freshmen and new transfer students are not eligible to apply until a USC GPA is calculated.
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Dornsife approved program or opportunity
  • Full-time enrollment at USC for the entire academic year (i.e., registered for 12 units each semester). Seniors with Fall – Spring enrollment are eligible to apply. Seniors with only Fall enrollment are not eligible to apply.
  • Graduate students or students with 144 units or more are not eligible to apply.
  • Must not have already received the maximum ExL funding during the academic year for which you are applying.

If you are interested in applying for funding for an approved Maymester course or research with a faculty mentor, please apply for SOAR for the fall and spring semesters or SURF for summer programs.

Applications received after the priority application deadline will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, as funding may not be available for those applying after the priority deadline.
