Classical Studies
Through the major program in Classical Studies at Tulane University, we aim to educate students in the cultures of the ancient Mediterranean world through the study of Greek and Roman texts in translation and ancient material culture.
Greek
Classical Studies at Tulane University focuses on understanding the world of the ancient Mediterranean—including Greece, Rome, and surrounding cultures—by studying its languages, history, art, and archaeology. We offer a major in Greek and encourage all students to sample broadly among our offerings even while concentrating in a particular field.
Classical Studies (Language Concentration)
A Classical Studies (Language Concentration) degree from Loyola University New Orleans lays the foundation for further study or professional work in any field. Law and medicine particularly benefit from the critical and analytical skills imparted by the program, but our students leave with the ability to excel in fields ranging from marketing and film to politics and government.
