Manipal College of Health Professions (formerly known as School of Allied Health Sciences ) was established in 1999 as the first institution in India exclusively dedicated to the education of allied health professionals.

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) was founded in 1909 as a result of the joint efforts of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, the Government of India, and the Maharaja of Mysore.
